Dominic Kelly attended the final event of project popAI in Brussels on Tuesday 19 September representing CBRNE Ltd. The initiative brought together thirteen partners from eight European countries (Greece, Ireland, Spain, Italy, Belgium, The Netherlands, Germany and Slovakia) and was coordinated by the National Centre for Scientific Research “Demokritos” (NCSRD).

Throughout the day participants were briefed on popAI’s legacy: an EU-wide “AI Hub” built around three pillars; a Network to foster collaboration; Tools to support legal and ethical AI use; and Services offering best-practice guidelines and policy briefs. Project ALIGNER was represented by Dr Daniel Lückerath of Fraunhofer IAIS, Donatella Casaburo of KU Leuven and Dominic Kelly of CBRNE Ltd.

popAI aims to build trust in AI for security by engaging citizens, law-enforcement agencies and policymakers; mapping AI functionalities; providing an Ethics Toolbox; and delivering recommendations up to 2040 for human-centric, secure-by-design AI.
