AI ORA is delighted to announce that our own Donatella Casaburo, Head of AI Law & Compliance, has just co-authored a peer-reviewed article entitled “The AI Act in a Law-Enforcement Context: Research Needs Identified by the ALIGNER Project.” The paper appears in the latest issue of AIRE 2/2025 under the Reports section for the European Union.

Working alongside Daniel Lickerath and Oliver Ullrich, Donatella explores how the forthcoming EU AI Act (Regulation 2024/468) will reshape policing and public-safety use-cases from autonomous patrolling and biometric identification to digital forensics. The authors map out critical research gaps that law-enforcement authorities and technology vendors must address to ensure AI systems remain human-centric, ethically sound and fully compliant with the Charter of Fundamental Rights.

Donatella’s expertise already underpins AI ORA’s Organisational Readiness Accelerator, where she leads governance workshops that translate complex regulation into clear, actionable policies for UK SMEs. Her latest publication reinforces the depth of insight our clients can expect when navigating AI compliance.

Please join us in congratulating Donatella on this achievement and reach out if you’d like to discuss what the EU AI Act means for your business.
